Ben Lorentzen Admitting to the Affair and Thoughts on In Jin Moon’s Affair
As if the certificate wasn’t enough confirmation here is direct text between myself and Ben Lorentzen on Facebook today.
Me: ”Ben,
I’ve heard some unbelievable rumor. I know that you and I don’t know one another, personally, but is this true? I am NOT placing judgement. I just HATE rumors and wish to understand the truth.”
Ben Lorentzen: “Hi. In Jin Nim and I are a couple. We have a son. We do not go out now in respect for Fathers Sunghwa, but we will once things have quiet down a little and the appropriate time has arrived. “
I don’t have a “dog in the fight” so to speak. I’m not a follower of Rev. Moon, but we do attend this church. My wife, however, has been in the movement for more than 20 years. So, none of this brings a smile to my face because I do like the attempt the church makes in bringing people together, breaking down barriers, etc.
However, I’ve been a staunch believer that you should never put people on a pedestal because it’s impossible to REALLY know them. I don’t do this for athletes, musicians, and certainly not religious leaders. There are myriad examples of how these people will simple prove to be…….human. Furthermore, I’ve always disagreed with the ”business” of organized religion. How do you sell faith? How do you amass wealth with faith as your product? In this case the real issue is that it’s clear that people at the top put the $$ ahead of the membership…..better to cover up and deceive than kill the golden goose, right?
Whom do you roll out next? Whomever it is can’t be believed, can they? After all, it’s known that these affairs have been known about for a long time. So, just about anyone from the leadership ranks that walks up to the pulpit is just as bad as In Jin herself, right?
It’s really sad, though, because a lot of people have put their faith in this movement. They have invested a lot of money in this movement! A lot of them have essentially sacrificed their children by burying this faith in their kids’ heads (before they’re old enough to challenge it).
…….and how about the kids that really look up to the people at LLM in New York?
